  • As stated in, at least since macos Sierra 10.12, a similar feature is already installed in macos.
So, this plugin is not needed anymore. Anyway, the “brew cask install animated-gif-quicklook” does not work.
Furthermore, with this plugin installed, when opening a folder containing an animated gif, I get a message:
    > To open “Quick Look Helper (32bit),” you need a Java SE 6 runtime. Would you like to install one now?
So, I deleted it with the Terminal command:
    sudo rm -rf /Library/QuickLook/AnimatedGIF_QL.*
I got rid of the message and the preview in standard quicklook works fine.
