  • Did all the steps in this post, and when I then ran

    brew cask install gedit

    It told me:

Error: Cask ‘gedit’ is unavailable: No Cask with this name exists.
    Error: Install incomplete.

The previous command worked fine, and outputted:

    side-dev:~ brian$ ruby -e “$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)” /dev/null ; brew install caskroom/cask/brew-cask 2> /dev/null

  • I have a versioin of Gedit which is paid for. I have upgrade to Mac OSX Sierra and it won’t open.

    Can you advise please

  • Just an alternate suggestion for OSX Sierra users. If the following doesn’t work for you:
    $brew cask install gedit
    Try the following istead:
    $brew install gedit

    Best,
    Reza

  • Hello,

unfortnunately, this does not work for me. I followed instructions, however at point 3, I am getting the following error message:

Error: Cask ‘gedit’ is unavailable: No Cask with this name exists.

Any suggestions, what I can do about this?

    Many thanks,
    Sabine
